Club may have managed to stay afloat until the end of this last season, but I strongly urge everyone connected with the club not to be complacent about the future.

The club cannot afford to continue to live beyond its means. Grim financial reality will see to that.

What is clearly needed is a determined attempt to rebuild the core support from the York public.

Corporate sponsors are great but ordinary bums on seats guarantee a regular income and help to create the mind of atmosphere that will encourage the team to "do business" on the pitch.

The chronic lack of atmosphere at Huntington Stadium is a major "minus factor" and surely the key to solving this problem and getting York people to go and watch their team is for the club to return to the city centre.

The obvious solution must be ground sharing at Bootham Crescent with York City.

I realise that there have been differences between the clubs in the past and that the practicalities such as guarding against over-use of the pitch and agreeing the sharing of facilities need to be tackled but these matters have been overcome elsewhere and could be resolved in York.

I also strongly feel that such an arrangement is in the interest of York City as well.

Great efforts have been made to get City on to a sound financial footing, but this has left little cash over to develop the team or the stadium in the manner that many fans would like and a pooling of resources must help in this respect.

So in conclusion, my plea must be get on with it now, while the Wasps are still buzzing. It may not be easy but it can be done and - for the long term benefit of both clubs - must be done.
