York City chief Terry Dolan is relishing tomorrow's big match atmosphere.

And the Minstermen manager reckons the mighty Manchester United are the perfect opponents to test City's pre-season preparations so far.

"From a fitness point of view it will probably be worth two games to us," conceded Dolan

He added: "Everyone is looking forward to it and it will be nice to play in front of a full house.

"I know it is classed as a pre-season friendly but for the club it is a day for everyone to enjoy.

"There will be a lot of supporters who will be coming to Bootham Crescent for the first time and the aim, whatever happens, is that the supporters both old and new enjoy themselves and want to come back for more."

Speaking as City returned home from their summer-training camp at Keele University, the City boss said he had still to decide on his starting line-up.

But he confirmed the team would be selected from the 18-man squad that returned today from Staffordshire.

It means trialists David McNiven and Phil Hadland could be handed surprise outings against United as Dolan casts his eye over the duo for one final time before deciding whether to hand them contracts.

McNiven has scored twice in two starts so far and Dolan admitted the striker has potential.

"I think there is more to come from him," he said.

York City Reserves will field a strong line-up for their trip to Selby Town tonight (kick-off 7pm).

Craig Skinner, Marc Williams, John Williams, Colin Alcide and Scott Jordan, all players with plenty of first team experience, are all included in the squad which travels to Flaxley Road.

Selby will field a similar squad to the one which lost 1-0 to a Rotherham United XI at Flaxley Road on Wednesday.

Selby Town: from Blair, Roberts, Hart, Clayton, Tomlinson, Forrest, Croad, P Cygan, Reidford, P Collier, Depa, Pickles, Richardson, Turner, Carter, Oldfield, Baxter.

York City: Howarth, Dawson, Reed, Kelly, Thompson, Skinner, Turley, M Williams, J Williams, Alcide, Collinson, Fielding, Wood, Darlow, Russell, Gowan
