YORK Wasps have increased admission prices for next season in line with other Northern Ford Premiership clubs.

It will now cost adults £8 to stand at Huntington Stadium instead of last season's £7, with pensioners' admission increased from £4 to £5.

However, chief executive Ann Garvey insisted that they were not over-charging.

"On looking at entrance fees last year I noticed we were one of the cheapest clubs," she said.

"We've done a bit of homework and found that £8 will be the figure of most clubs this season."

Season ticket prices have gone up accordingly but fans can cash in on a discount if they snap up passes before September 29.

The season tickets are now on sale at the following prices:

Adults seating £110 before Sep 29 (£120 after); OAPs seating £77 (£84); Adults standing £88 (£96); OAPs standing £55 (£60); Junior Wasps £20.

Any York fans wishing to book a place on new commercial manager Paul Scanlon-Wells' trip to the World Cup opener between England and Australia at Twickenham on October 28 should note a change in the phone number.

Paul can be contacted on 0161 2878603, and not as reported in Saturday's Evening Press, or 07803 566347.

Cost is £85 per person which includes one night's bed and breakfast at a Slough hotel, match ticket and transport.

York Wasps' Academy side suffered another heavy defeat at the weekend, beaten 84-0 by Gateshead Academy.

The York youngsters have two games left of the season - at home to Doncaster on Saturday, August 12, and at home to Lancashire on Tuesday, August 15.
