YORK City juniors enjoyed an impressive 2-1 victory over West Yorkshire League outfit Knaresborough Town last night.
After a goalless first-half, Luke Ibbotson opened the scoring on 49 minutes for City when he took the ball past the Town full-back and slotted home.
City doubled their advantage just six minutes later when Gary Ormston struck what was to prove a decisive blow for Knaresborough.
The home side rallied as York took their foot off the pedal and managed to pull a goal back on 77 minutes through Jason Kehoe but despite some concerted pressure were unable to grab an equaliser.
The City youngsters play an Australian touring side, Adelaide Panthers, on Friday at the club's training ground off Wigginton road (2.30pm).
They will also play Northern Youth Academy outfit New Earswick Under-19s on Monday, August 21, (6.30pm).
