Manager: Bill Dearden
Stadium: Field Mill
Capacity: 6,905
Last Season: 17th
Comings and goings
Out: Andy Roscoe (Exeter, free), Scott Gibbons, Lee Cowling, David Linighan, Gavin Bassinder, Martin Garratt, Gary Tallon (all released), David Kerr (Chester, free)
In: Defender Stuart Hicks (Chester, undisclosed), midfielder Wayne Corden (Port Vale, free), midfielder Les Robinson (Oxford, free), winger Ja-mie Lomas (Chesterfield, free), midfielder Martin Pemberton (Bradford Park Avenue)
One to watch: Striker Chris Greenacre scored ten goals last season after a successful initial loan spell at Field Mill from Manchester City earned him a permanent contract. As he looks ahead to his first full season as the main man at Mansfield big things are expected. The 22-year-old was rated at Maine Road but was never really given a chance and had to settle for a series of loan spells, including Blackpool, Cardiff and Scarborough. Now settled and established Greenacre has the potential to double last season's tally
Odds: A £6million redevelopment at Field Mill has increased the wave of optimism sweeping through the club despite a poor last season. Like most clubs at the wrong end of the table, goals scored proved a particular problem but manager Billy Dearden has made some shrewd signings to tighten things up at the back and increase competition in midfield. Certainly an improvement on last season's showing beckons.
