ANGIE HIELDS is the York John Smith's Ladies League Individual champion.

The City Arms star was required to draw on all her resources to beat Wenlock's Michelle Britton 3-0 in the best of five final.

Britton had a shot to complete the maximum 170 finish in the middle game, but Hields already had a check-out lined-up should Britton falter.

Hields took the opening encounter with a handsome 100 game shot and secured the title with a splendid 21 darts.

This, and her contribution to the triples trophy win, with Carole Pipes and Bev Harton, earned Hields the "Player of the Night" award.

City Arms beat Dringhouses, represented by Carol Brayshaw, Karen Jackson and Chris Myhill, 2-1, Harton on target for the double both times.

The equivalent men's event is contended by Pete Leake (Punch), Mick Nixon (Cygnet), Jim Hawksby (Beeswing) and Colin Rowntree (Snickleway).

Farmeary, with Rich Plummer, and Hields, with Dave Robinson, are again on-stage for the main Mixed Pairs competition. Kev Walton-Dawn Exton (Cygnet) and Martyn Turner-Clare White (Leeman) are the other semi-finalists.
