A TASTE of Portugal could feature for York City reserves tonight in their Avon Insurance League division one clash with Darlington at Bootham Crescent, kick-off 7pm.

Trialist striker Phillipe Serauir linked up with the Minstermen for training yesterday and is on standby for tonight's match.

However, City first team coach Adie Shaw explained it is unlikely the club will get clearance in time for Serauir to play and Barry Conlon is expected to partner James Turley in attack.

Tonight's reserve team also feature experienced first team duo Mark Sertori and Kevin Hulme.

However, Shaw advised fans not to read too much into the former Halifax pair's appearance in the reserves.

"We are just looking at a number of different options," explained Shaw.

"Scott Jordan and Lee Bullock are in there too so we will see what happens, but I wouldn't read too much into it.

"We have got a lot of young lads playing tonight and it is a way of strengthening the team."

On the injury front, Shaw said central defender Gary Hobson has a 50/50 chance of being fit to appear against his former club, Brighton, on Saturday.

"The next 24 to 48 hours will be crucial," said Shaw.

Graham Potter was also still resting his stiff hamstrings today but Shaw said he expected the former England Under-21 international to be fit for Saturday.

Striker Peter Duffield, who broke his leg less than two weeks ago, put in a welcome appearance at Bootham Crescent yesterday and did some light exercises with physio Jeff Miller.
