INSTALLATION art or candid camera? That is the question posed by York artist Benedict Phillips and his giant ice cubes.
In an imaginative project, he will freeze toys within 5ft tall blocks of ice and film the public's reaction. The results will be displayed at the city's Impressions Gallery.
It will be interesting to see the response. Mr Phillips is unsure whether people will wait for the blocks to melt before grabbing the goodies, or set about the cubes with axe or blowtorch.
Judging by the panic on the filling station forecourts yesterday, our bet would be on direct action.
