YORK City chief Terry Dolan today landed former Republic of Ireland Under-21 international Kieron Durkan on a month's loan from Macclesfield Town.

The 26-year-old Chester-born right-sided player stated his career with Wrexham before moving to Stockport County and then Macclesfield.

Durkan's arrival followed the departure of Andrew Dawson from Bootham Crescent.

As reported in later editions of today's Evening Press, 20-year-old Dawson left the club by mutual agreement.

The York-born full-back or midfielder has not featured in the senior squad since manager Terry Dolan's first game in charge back in February.

In recent weeks Dawson, who came up through the youth ranks at Bootham Crescent, has even failed to earn a place in the club's reserve team.

The youngster, who made a dramatic senior debut in December 1998 when he came on as a substitute against Manchester City and netted the winning goal, still had almost two years of his current contract still to run.

Both player and club have now negotiated an agreeable settlement, leaving Dawson free to fix himself up with another club.
