Dringhouses looked to be going out of the York FA Saturday Senior Cup when they were 3-0 down to Wigginton Grasshoppers with ten minutes remaining.

But they rallied strongly with two goals from John Lake and one from Mark Ratcliffe to force the tie into extra time.

There were no further goals in the extra period and Dringhouses went through to the third round 5-4 on penalties.

Pocklington had a comfortable 4-0 victory over Riccall 4-0 with a hat-trick from Dave Gamble and a goal by Richard Millett. New Earswick recorded their first win of the season, a 2-0 victory against Harrogate League club Tockwith.

The first round giant-killers, Haxby, were leading Premier division side Bishopthorpe 4-2 when the referee abandoned the game, when a brawl broke out.

At Old Malton goals by Phil Hill (2) and Darren Walker saw the home team through against Huntington 3-2.

In the York FA Saturday Junior Cup, Rawcliffe Rangers were struggling against Beckett League opponents Slingsby when, after 30 minutes with the score 0-0, they had Steve Paxton sent off.

By half-time Paul Beddingham had put Rawcliffe into the lead. Beddingham added a second soon after the restart following good work by Michael Fox on the left.

Beddingham and Fox netted further goals before a delicate chip from Dale Phillips completed the scoring for Rawcliffe to give them a 5-2 win. Glyn Brown and Steve Magin netted for Slingsby.

T&L Selby were the day's highest scorers with a 13-1 thumping of Coxwold, Chris Harkin and John Ginty leading the way with four goals each.

Stamford Bridge fielded a very young side against Hemingbrough and gave a solid performance when with goals by Nick Rank, Pete Carpenter, Simon Stancliffe and Haigh Miles they won 4-2.

Norton United has a deserved 4-1 win against Selby RSSC with goals by Sam Bothomley (2), Tom Bothomley and a 25 metres shot by 16-year-old John Dutton.

Marton-cum-Grafton's York and District League side did what their Harrogate and District side could not do when defeating Duncombe Park 3-1 with goals from Duncan Aldrick (2) and Philip Lee. Phil mason scored for Duncombe Park.

Heslington led the way in the York FA Saturday Reserve Cup with a 3-1 win over Wilberfoss with goals by Hughes, Meehan and Frary.

Wigginton Black Horse defeated Haxby 3-0, Andy Armitage (penalty), Mark Potter and Steve Durban with a curving free-kick being the scorers.

Dringhouses Reserves, like their first team, needed extra-time to beat Bishopthorpe 2-0 with a 20 metre volley Colin Brown and a close-range goal by Mark Pragnell.

St John's College beat Copmanthorpe 3-1 final score with goals by Simon King, Mark Hotchins and Ross Caufield.
