Yorkshire League outfit Selby Warriors are on the lookout for a new coach.

The have parted company with Steve Whitley after just three games of their new division two campaign which sees the Warriors languishing next to bottom of the table without a point to their name.

Warriors want to bring in a new face at the helm and arrest a situation where they have a negative points difference of 96 having conceded a stunning 130 points in their three outings - only Doncaster outfit Rossington are in a worse state of repair having lost all their opening four matches and are one point poorer in the points difference tally.

"We are on the lookout for someone, preferably a player-coach who may bring some players with him." said secretary Paul Paterson, who is filling in for the time being.

He hopes to have someone installed before Warriors next game on November 4.

The club trains twice a week at Barlby High School where they also play.

Paterson has been with the club since its formation in February 1987 and anyone who is interested in helping the club out should contact him on 01757 704761.

However, Warriors do have time on their side as they are without a game this weekend, as are fifth division York Groves, due to no fixtures being planned for this weekend - due to the Super League Grand Final.

In the National Conference Heworth travel to East Leeds determined to put significant daylight between themselves and the quartet of teams at the bottom of division one.

Their rivals Easts are fourth bottom but have only two points to their credit, while Heworth, just one place above, have six points from seven outings.

A victory for Harold Box's charges will put them in relative comfort in mid-table, but both sides will be eager to bounce back after poor away performances last weekend.

Heworth found the going tough as they succumbed to a second half onslaught at Eccles, the Mancunians running out 26-4 winners after leading by a meagre four points at the interval.

Easts in turn to a 22-4 beating at Siddal and were never in the hunt.

In division two New Earswick All Blacks face a stiff test when they tackle a Hull Dockers side going for their fifth successive win.

And they'll have to do without suspended hooker Martin McTigue and prop Jamie Daniel, who has a neck injury, for the Humbersiders' NCL second division game at White Rose Avenue (2.30pm).

However, McTigue's brother, Lee, is back on duty in the second row and winger Dan Wellard is available for the first time since sustaining a leg injury against city rivals York Acorn in the second game of the season.

Mick Storey has also declared himself fit after shaking off a leg injury.

Acorn are sitting pretty in fourth place in the table and will be eager to keep the pressure on the leading trio - Crosfields, Thatto Heath and Hull Dockers - with a home win over London Skolars.
