A GREAT many people now are enjoying a higher standard of living than their forefathers.

Many have warm comfortable accommodation, their own transport, a good clothes and eat plenty of healthy food.

But these things are only possible with a reasonable level of income, and the paltry, degrading rise for pensioners of 75p a week was disgusting. Many have worked all their lives paying tax, insurance, etc and fought bravely for their country.

New Labour should be ashamed of its treatment of pensioners. The supposed "Party for the people" - as envisaged by Harold Wilson - have become traitors to their cause.

I hope people remember this when they put their crosses down in next year's General Election.
