Harrogate Town's progress continued as they gained a UniBond League division one point from the Wetherby Road clash with high-riding Workington.

The match remained goalless, but either side could have won it - the best chance falling to Town's Craig Roden, who, with less than 20 minutes to go, was denied by Stuart Williamson.

Roden had netted late on in the first half, but Town were aggrieved to see a referee's assistant flag for an infringement after the man-in-the-middle, Michael Bell, had seemingly awarded the goal.

Harrogate Railway looked like shocking Northern Counties East League premier division leaders Ossett Albion, but their two-goal lead was overturned in a stunning fightback.

Steve Davey struck twice midway through the first half before Colin Williamson gave the visitors hope.

Ossett then put their hosts on the back foot and netted twice in as many minutes through James Glover and Duncan Bray before adding a fourth through Richard Dyson.

Goole, thanks to goals from Chris Clegg (2), Rob Nevis and Stuart Slack, won 4-2 at Liversedge, while Selby Town saw off sixth-placed Hallam with a comfortable 3-1 victory.

The Robins, with Paul Cygan missing with a knee injury, took the lead on 19 minutes through Peter Collier, who latched onto Andy Cygan's lay-off to blast the ball into the top corner.

Collier, who had earlier seen a goal ruled out for a foul, made it 2-0 eight minutes into the second half. He ran onto a superb through ball by Cygan - which made up for his bad first-half miss - and scored with another fine finish.

Hallam halved the deficit on 65 minutes through Highfield, but Town restored their two-goal advantage when Kristian Baxter netted a superb solo effort.

Both sides missed further chances, with Collier shooting wide when his hat-trick looked on.

Derby day in division one saw hosts Pickering Town beat Tadcaster Albion 2-1.

Thomas Reid was successful with a direct free-kick - his fourth in five games - after a needless foul by Paul James, and Phil O'Reilly also netted for the Pikes after Albion 'keeper Dave Cheshire had spilled a shot.

Ross Bardy headed home Matt Cressey's free-kick to give Tadcaster hope just before half-time, and they came close to equalising just after the interval when Darren Wilson's header was palmed onto the upright.

Both sides could have scored again, though Albion's chances suffered a blow when Dave Gilks was sent off for two unnecessary yellow cards, awarded for dissent and then kicking the ball away.

The visitors went two-men down near the end after James was taken off with a suspected fractured shin, with no more substitutes permitted. Initial X-rays suggested he had suffered only severe bruising, but he was due to go back to hospital today for more tests.

Albion boss Wayne Day said: "Even though we finished with nine men, we had a couple of chances and I couldn't fault the lads for their attitude."

Pikes chief Jimmy Reid said: "It was close but I think we just shaded it. We're not playing brilliantly but we're still winning, and we've got three of four quality players sitting injured."

West Yorkshire League champions Nestle Rowntree were put under pressure by Knaresborough Town before coming away with a 3-2 derby win.

The York outfit were rocked on 15 minutes when skipper Neil Durkin, making his first appearance of the season, had to come off with a recurrence of a groin strain, but they gained the lead when Rob Ellis netted following a corner.

Town drew level before half-time through Simon Cowan, but Rowntrees forged ahead in the second half with goals from Brent Terry and Matty Wain.

However, Steve Jones had a strike disallowed for offside and then Town gave themselves a chance when Johnny Bebb grabbed their second from a well worked move.

However, for all their efforts, Town could not force an equaliser.

York RI twice came from behind to gain a 2-2 draw at Pontefract Sports, but could have taken all the points as their hosts had three men sent off, the red cards being shown on 30, 70 and 75 minutes.

Pontefract finished the game with all eight men behind the ball and RI were unable to break them down, hitting the post with one effort and shooting narrowly off-target with a number of others.

Lee Bond netted both RI's goals, the second equalising a Pontefract penalty, harshly awarded when the ball rebounded onto Scott Barkley's hand off his knee.

New Earswick Under-19s came from two goals down to hammer Fields of Bradford 6-2 in the Northern U19s Alliance League.

Goals by Anthony Moorhouse (2), Mark Willoughby, Danny Farthing, James Anderson and Joe Gaughan turned it round.

"We played them off the park," said boss Gary Farthing.
