Pickering Town shocked Northern League big-boys Chester-le-Street Town to go through to the second round proper of the FA Carlsberg Vase.

Boss Jimmy Reid had said last week that he would be happy with a replay, but the Pikes returned home with a 1-0 win thanks to Phil O'Reilly's fifth goal of the season from Matt Morton's cross, and a superb display by 'keeper Rob Campbell.

"He had his best game for us since I've been at the club," said Reid.

The hosts had about eight chances to go ahead in the first half, but the game remained goalless at the break.

Pickering were the better side in the second half, and could have added to O'Reilly's goal.

"We'd got a bit of a mauling in the first half but it wasn't a case of hanging on in the second and we had chances to score again."

Selby Town also claimed a place in the hat for today's draw with a goalless draw at home to Rossendale United.

Both sides had opportunities, with the visitors creating the better chances but the Robins coming closest to scoring when Clayton shot just wide.

Selby also had claims for a penalty for hand-ball waved away and had a last-minute Andy Cygan goal ruled out for a push.

The replay in Lancashire takes place tomorrow, kick off 7.45pm.

Goole went out of the Vase when a 107th-minute winner by Craig Elliott gave Glasshoughton a 1-0 victory.

In division one, Tadcaster Albion gave Yorkshire Amateur their first win of the season after allowing Stefan Zoll hit an uninterrupted hat-trick.

Darren Wilson and Martin Shaw pulled Albion back into it but Wayne Day's men could not find an equaliser.

There were mixed fortunes for York's two West Yorkshire League clubs, who were in North Riding County FA Cup action.

York RI suffered as Kirkbymoorside went nap with a 5-0 win, but Nestl Rowntree fought back well to achieve an excellent 2-1 win over Teesside rivals Thornaby.

RI went close through Colin Raynor while John Alcock missed two one-on-ones, but were 1-0 down at the break and conceded further goals after 53, 65, 79 and 89 min-utes, and had Luke Bilhom sent off for talking back to a linesman with the score at 2-0.

Nestle were 1-0 down after 20 minutes and it stayed that way until the 84th minute when they netted twice in quick succession through Steve Ward and Elliott Simpson.

Nestle assistant boss John Reynolds said: "They were the better side in the first half but we should have had four or five in the second half.

"It was a cliff-hanger of a finish - not helped by the referee who added six minutes of injury time!"

Fellow West Yorkshire League outfit Knaresborough Town were in Harrogate and District FA Whitworth Cup action, going through to the second round with a 3-1 defeat of Beckwithshaw after extra-time.

Simon Cowan scored as the 90 minutes finished 1-1, but Darren Clifford and Adam Walker both netted in extra-time to give Town a deserved win.
