Heworth 'A' recorded their fourth consecutive win by defeating Fulford 'A' 6-1 in the York Conservative Club's Carlsberg-Tetley Snooker League.

Richie Burdett, Steve Burdett, Jason Milner (32 break), Keith Lawrence, Clive Whyte (30 break) and Neil Wood won for leaders Heworth and Alan Reed for Fulford.

Bootham 'A' halted Acomb 'A's unbeaten run with a solid 6-1 victory to remain three points behind in second place. Bootham's winners were John Darley, Mark Darley, Peter Mills, Barry Rankin, Colin Robinson and Ken Taylor. Keith Myers was Acomb's sole winner.

Bootham 'B' recorded their second win by defeating bottom placed Heworth 'B' 5-2 to move into fourth place. Tom Bamford, Fred Hough, George Long, Ian Robinson and Ray Stamp won for Bootham. Alf Appleby and Brian Birch replied for Heworth 'B'.

Acomb 'B' surprised Fulford 'B' when Ken Bowser defeated Robert Plant in the last frame to give Acomb a 4-3 victory. Acomb's other successes were by John Hutchinson, Steve Rodgers and Paul Waites. Fulford's winners were Gary Bolton, Peter Stroughair and George Toone.

Mark Darley (Bootham), Richie Burdett (Heworth), Jason Milner (Heworth) and Neil Wood (Heworth) are the only players with 100 per cent records after four matches in the Player of the Year Willsden Steel Trophy competition.

Neil Wood (45, 43 break) and Clive Whyte (42 break) head the Highest Break North Wolds Printers Cup competition.

Leaders Fulford are now the only unbeaten team after defeating bottom placed Heworth 4-3 in the Slater Cup Snooker Pairs League. Heworth's three successful frames were only by black ball finishes and Fulford gained the aggregate point by a comfortable margin.

Acomb held onto second place by inflicting the third defeat on Bootham. Their 4-3 win came after rallying from losing the first two frames to take the next three frames and despite Bootham taking the last game on the black they gained the aggregate by 29 points.

Bootham 'A' consolidated their position as leaders of the Faber Shield Billiards League with a 5-2 win over Fulford. Winners for Bootham were Eric Darley, Peter Mills (26, 24 breaks), Ken Taylor (34 break) and Barry Rankin (w/o) Brian Bickerstaff and Alan Reed won for Fulford.

Bootham 'B' won 5-2 at home to Acomb to move into second place. Chris Graninger, John Woodhall, George Long and Ian Robinson won for Bootham. John Hutchinson and Paul Clark, who ran out with a 31 break to win by nine points when Ray Stamp looked to have the game secured, replied for Acomb.
