York City boss Terry Dolan was today playing it cagey over reports suggesting he is about to make another move in the transfer market.

The City manager confirmed he took in Blackpool reserves' 2-1 defeat to Stoke at Bloomfield Road yesterday but would not reveal the player, or players, he was tracking.

However, speculation from the Potteries suggests Dolan is closing in on Stoke striker Chris Iwelumo.

The Division Two side have recently circulated the names of players they are prepared to loan out and 22-year-old Iwelumo is believed to be on the list.

The 6ft 4ins forward, signed by Stoke from Danish Club Aarhuis, came to the attention of City after he scored against them in Stoke's 5-1 first round first leg Worthington Cup triumph at Bootham Crescent this season.

Fellow forward Paul Connor, 21, who scored twice against City in the same match, is also believed to be available and yesterday played 45 minutes for Stoke's reserves before being withdrawn.

Also winger Matthew Bullock, 20, featured and could be seen as a replacement for Kieron Durkan, who has returned to Macclesfield after a month's loan at York.

One player definitely heading to York for a second time is flying Dutchman Theo Gunnissen.

The midfielder spent a week with City at the start of October and scored for the reserves against Shrewsbury Town.

The 23-year-old is set to return to Bootham Crescent on Monday at the start of an extended two-week trial that will make or break his dreams of earning a contract.

During his first City stint, York boss Dolan admitted he had been impressed by Gunnissen's enthusiasm but said a week was not long enough to make a final judgement on the midfielder.

City reserves meanwhile went down 2-1 at Wrexham last night, Marc Williams grabbing the Minstermen's goal.

Importantly for City boss Dolan, who will be without the services of Steve Agnew for the weekend, midfielders Scott Jordan and Kevin Hulme both came through 45 minutes last night.
