Cromwell can triump in the marathon battle at Sedgefield tomorrow.

The five-year-old gelding, trained in Lincolnshire by Michael Chapman, tackles the three miles and three furlongs of the Come Racing At Sedgefield Handicap Chase and will relish the gruelling stamina test.

A winner over an extended three miles at Market Rasen last month, Cromwell was far from disgraced over a wholly inadequate two and a half miles at Wetherby on his latest outing.

Although eventually finishing last of the four runners to Time Of Flight, he was in with every chance until being tapped for finishing speed in the home straight.

Tomorrow's race is confined to amateur riders and Chapman has snapped-up the services of the experienced Tom Doyle for Cromwell, who is napped to come out on top.

Shardante can lift the W.A. Stephenson Memorialm Novices' Chase for Norton trainer Malcolm Jefferson.

Already a winner this season, Shardante finished a good second to Galant Moss over this course and distance on his latest start. A reproduction of that form will make him hard to beat tomorrow.

Brian Ellison has his horses in good form and Arcticaldi should make a bold bid for him in the

Enquiries @ sedgefield-racecourse.com Handicap Chase.

A winner at Southwell this season, Arcticaldi was beaten six lengths into second by Delilah Blue at Ludlow last week. He can step up on that performance here with Tony Dobbin in the saddle.

Jack Flush, who has run well recently, will appreciate the drop in class in the Sanyo Televisions For Bookmakers Selling Handicap Hurdle. Graham Lee takes the mount on Mike Sowersby's gelding.

At Wincanton, Valley Henry should not be opposed in the Kaliber Novices' Hurdle.

Paul Nicholls' gelding looks an exciting recruit judged on his recent success at Chepstow and should be capable of defying a penalty in the hands of Joe Tizzard.

Barren Lands can land the Bruton Handicap Hurdle for trainer Kevin Bishop.

Rodi Greene's mount scored handsomely over this course and distance last month when beating Sirmoor Rifles by seven lengths. An encore looks on the cards.

Ross Minster should not be underestimated in the £12,000 Hamilton Lifestat Showcase Handicap Chase, which has pride of place at Wincanton tomorrow.

Although he does not have the advantage of a recent race, Philip Hobbs' gelding ended last season in a blaze of glory by winning two of his last three starts.

I would not be surprised to see him pick up where he left off, in the hands of Robert Widger.
