Acomb Ladies continued their good run of form with a fine display against Leeds Owls in division two of the Yorkshire Ladies League.

Acomb took their time to get going as the Owls camped in their half but eventually ran out comfortable 6-0 winners.

They opened the scoring midway through the first half when Danielle Courtine struck a free hit into the area and Sally Kelsey deflected the ball past the 'keeper.

Acomb doubled their lead before the break when captain Kerry Rafton picked up a cross from Megan Horlock to score.

Acomb stepped up a couple of gears in the second half and Sarah Clay made it 3-0 when stabbing home a Rafton cross at the far post. Ruth Baxter hit the fourth after picking up the ball just outside the 25, advancing and firing home.

Baxter then notched her second and Horlock completed the rout from the tightest of angles.

Acomb Ladies II went one better than their first team, beating Zeneca 7-0 in division six as they found the good form of last season.

City of York Ladies' losing run in division one of the North League continued with a 2-0 reverse at Northwich-based Winnington Park.

However, York were by no means disgraced in a game they were unlucky to lose.

With Paula Clough and Sarah Lawrence prominent in midfield, York were well in the game for all 70 minutes but were twice punished heavily for giving the ball away in the second half.

Winnington Park took the lead when a misplaced clearance allowed them a shot on goal which took a wicked deflection off a defender's foot to loop high into the net with 'keeper Sarah Massen having no chance as the umpire played advantage.

As York pressed for an equaliser, they lost possession of the ball upfield and Park broke away to double their advantage.

Both Sally Sleightholme and Hannah Rockliff had earlier been thwarted in front of goal, while a good chance for a consolation went begging in the closing stages.

City of York Ladies II fought back well to claim a Yorkshire League division two point from a 2-2 draw at Wakefield Wanderers.

York were 2-0 down but a penalty stroke converted by Claire Jackson gave them hope and Helen Shilleto's strike from a narrow angle levelled matters.

Tadcaster Ladies saw off Colne Valley 2-1 after a slow start and a goalless first half.

Playing at York St John's due to pitch problems at Tadcaster, the home side took time to show some flare but then began to create chances while Colne were only dangerous on the occasional break.

Tad dominated the second half and took the lead from a short corner through Sarah Thomas. The goal was quickly followed by another short corner strike by Rebecca Cattle.

Colne Valley pulled one back from a rebound after Cath Webb had made a fine save.
