LOAN ranger Chris Iwelumo is gunning to leave Kidderminster Harriers chief Jan Molby ruing what might have been.

Molby and his goal-shy Harriers were known to be closing in on the striker earlier this month before Iwelumo committed himself to the Bootham Crescent cause.

Now the Scottish born giant, on a month's loan from Second Division Stoke City, is desperate to open his Minstermen account and admits there would be no better place than the Aggborough Stadium.

"If I had waited another week I could have probably gone there," he revealed.

"But it was very frustrating to be at Stoke playing for the reserves, being in the first-team squad going about with them everywhere but just tasting pies.

"I am glad I am out, I am glad I am playing, I am glad I am starting games.

"I have now got to go out and give him (Molby) a bit of a headache and that's what I hope to do.

"Everyone says that getting the first one is the hardest.

"I've got another three games here so hopefully I can bag a few goals - it would make my day."

Iwelumo admitted he was disappointed not to find the back of the net on his full debut in last Sunday's 4-1 FA Cup triumph over Radcliffe Borough.

"I should have scored a hat-trick on Sunday to be fair. I had chances where I should have hit the target," he rued.

"I did tire in the game and my touch let me down but my aerial power did come to the fore."

It is that aerial ability that convinced City boss Terry Dolan to step in ahead of Molby, reasoned the 22-year-old.

"We have scored seven goals in the last two games and you can't complain about that.

"David McNiven has done brilliant getting the goals but the midfield have been scoring too.

"I think I have been brought in to give us more aerial power because in some of the games you play it is better to just get the ball up there and rather than it come straight back I can hold the ball up or get a few flicks."

Iwelumo admitted he was delighted to be getting a taste of first team football, even if the frenzied pace of life in the basement division had caught him on the hop.

"It is the first time I have been out on loan but there is a good bunch of guys here and I am enjoying it.

"But you can't really say I am even used to Second Division football.

"I've only had a small sniff, I've played only 100 minutes in the first team for Stoke this season and scored two goals.

"But it doesn't prepare you for first team football and that's way I tired on Sunday.

"Hopefully, the manager will be patient with me and I can get some goals."
