At the halfway stage one York White Rose Ladies League team is undefeated.

Sun's skipper Sheelagh Lord and Sue Scrimshaw hit three tons between them in a 5-4 victory over a spirited Crescent side. Sun have recorded eight wins out of eight and are 12 points clear at the top of division one.

Burton WMC, whose only loss was to Sun, found themselves at 3-3 in their match with New York, but wins from Joy Franks, Joyce Tait and Olive Thompson competently collected the victory.

Amanda Cooper was Palace's sole victor against a rampant Fulfordgate, while the Deramore trio, Julie Arthur, Ann Sellers and skipper Jean Hall, saw off Institute's challenge to win 6-3.

Celia Wells put Clarence up 3-1, but Tap turned on the style and won the next four, Sylvia Quinn sealing the 5-4 victory.

Clarence's loss was Collingwood's gain as Irene Bowes again held her nerve to clinch a last-game decider against Post, and open up a two-point gap at the top of division two.

Earswick took the first five games at Bumper, while Karen Coman clinched victory for Fulford Conservatives against Bowling.

In division three Laurie Styles steered Shanter to victory over Alice.

A fine 23 darts from Ann Ella inspired Huntington to a great 7-2 victory over Tankard, whose winners were Denise Reilly and Vikki Le-Monnier.

Yvonne Ryder and Anne Garbutt paired to put Coach 2-1 up, but William countered with singles wins from Iris Haigh, Pat Dickinson then Val Bell. June Mallory pulled one back for the Tadcaster-based side, but to no avail as Joan Copley and then Brenda Bainbridge registered wins for William, which Coach badly needed to challenge the leaders.

Sandra Bruce shot a splendid 19 darts as Ox stampeded away from Cygnet in York John Smith's Ladies League division one.

Brigadier captain Sue Lowery also gamed in 19 and Roz Kerr produced two tons for 20 as they proved too strong for Layerthorpe. Carole Layne, Jo Hodges and Julie Coyle also recorded high scores as Brigadier won 8-1.

Puss 'n Boots, whose Pauline Burnett registered a three bulls score, could find no answer to the finishing prowess of City Arms, who won by the perfect scoreline. Angie Hields included three tons.

Tracy Billingham was a double-ton scorer for Vaults, but it was Muriel Britton and her daughter, Amanda, who sealed the win for Wenlock.

Jane Wright shot out on 118 for Cranes, but Maureen Beddingham and Kay Snowdon secured the win for Clifton.

Slipper drop to second place. They were trounced by Britannia 'A', who shot into a 4-0 lead before Doreen Johnstone put Slipper on the scoresheet, Chris Swales secured the match.

Shepherds took over at the top thanks to some good scoring by their captain Angie Reed in a 6-3 win over Clifton.

Burton WMC suffered a setback in their quest for division three honours when Angie Lancaster and Sylvia Brown won the decider for Jubilee. Second-placed Poacher had Lin Gould and Carol Sturdy securing victory against Leeman.

Clifton had the match won before the pairs against Woolpack. Wendy Smith (100,140 and 76 finish) was ably assisted by Donna Watson as Mitre showed up too strong for Mount.

Tang Hall WMC, with good scoring by Karen Brown, were 4-2 up but Slip showed their strength in the pairs. Pauline Welburn and Jackie Clemit took the decider.

The division four leaders, Queen, suffered at the hands of their ex-'A' team as Cueball put friendship aside to run out 6-3 winners. Leeman 'B' were victorious by the same scoreline against their 'C' team.

Shepherds took a 4-2 lead into the pairs against Beeswing, who stung back with Lisa Potts partnering Chris Hayward to win the decider. Toni Smallwood (140) and Olive Blades did the same for Frog after Jean Elliott and Betty Tate had levelled against Puss 'n Boots.

Rich Plummer and John Pickering qualified for the York Open competition from those bidding in week five.

Humberside county player Pete Leake beat Martyn Turner (18,20) in week six with a good 20,20 then 18 darts, and Mick Willsden (19,20,19) beat Graham Sanderson.

The event is sponsored by the Unique Pub Company. The prize money is £1,000 and the next round is at Punch Bowl on Friday (8pm).
