Acomb Men's I defeated David Browns 2-0 in their last match before the Christmas break.
Home side David Browns started well and forced some good saves out of Mike Brown in the Acomb goal.
Acomb grew in confidence and had several good chances to open the scoring with both Jamie Robinson and Nick Linfoot going close.
They finally took the lead mid-way through the half when Robinson's deflected cross found captain Paul Wright who steered the ball home. Matthew Dickenson almost doubled the lead with a deflected shot that forced a fine save from the 'keeper.
Acomb killed the game off in the second half with a Stuart Baxter strike from a short corner.
