Rowntree Ladies proved too strong at home for YUSC, beating them 7-2 in a York Badminton League ladies division one fixture.

Emma Andrew and Joyce Palmer led the way for Rowntree's, winning three in straight sets for 90-47.

Sally Locker and Kath Watt played well for YUSC, taking a consolation with an eight and 12 win over Brenda Drummond and Kath Watt.

Riverside travelled to Market Weighton in ladies two with only two pairs, but still managed a 5-4 win. Tricia Fowler and Ann Casper took the vital Riverside maximum for a return of 104-31.

Rowntree 'A' scored a shock 6-3 away win over Clifton 'A' in men's division one.

Craig Dobson and Phil Grant did the damage for the confectionery side with three wins for 101-61. Kevin Davison and Daniel Woolfson took two Clifton wins, but lost seven and six to Dobson and Grant.

Drax 'A' won the battle of the Selby clubs with a 7-2 home win over Selby 77 in men's one.

Scott Anderson and Dennis Bradley put in a tremendous series for Drax, winning all three in straight sets for 90-23.

York RI put in a good home display to beat Students 'A' 7-2, also in men's division one. Tim Jarvis and Craig Liversedge topped the Institute returns with a well taken maximum for a total of 90-27.

Keith Burrows and Roger Martin kept up their good understanding as Millthorpe beat Drax 'B' 6-3 in men's two.

Their return of 104-57 included a tough 15-13, 14-17 15-8 over Richard Course and Andrew Dunning.

St John's College scored an 8-1 home win over YUSC in men's three.

Dave Dearsley and Will Phelps took the student teachers' best return with three wins for 90-17. Dinish and Engliat Lim took the Staff Club consolation with a seven and nine win over Bob Metcalfe and Graham Donnan.

Huntington were given a tough men's three match by Selby Jubilee before winning 6-3 at Sutton-on-Derwent. Mark Tebbutt and Paul Moisley took the only maximum of the match, including a 6-15 15-7 15-1 over Roy Cannon and Andy Hatfield, who took two Jubilee wins.

Shepherd's kept up their winning ways in mixed four after a 6-3 away win over Selby 77 'B'.

Topping the Shepherd's averages were Dave Simpson and Chiard Secchi with three straight wins for 90-32.

Selby Jubilee scored a good 6-3 win over Huntington 'B' in mixed four.

Roy Cannon and Sandra Royle hit top form to score all their wins in straight sets, bringing them a match aces' total of 84-57.

Knavesmire 'B' just edged out Fulfordgate 'A' 5-4 in mixed division five.

Garry Hall and Hazel Winfield took two rubbers for Fulfordgate in a good display, but Janet Brookes and Paul Rogers clinched the bonus points for Knavesmire with a ten and 13 win over Geoff Hepwith and Caroline Ryder.

Drax 'E' kept their top spot in mixed six with an 8-1 away win over Selby Jubilee 'C'. Janet Lumley and Richard Summers were the pick of the Drax pairs with three wins for 101-55.
