York Rugby Union Club are hoping for a thaw so that they will be able to play their home match against Scarborough tomorrow.

It will be a rare meeting between the sides, who used to play each other regularly until the advent of leagues.

Although skipper "Punchy" Clutton returns to the York side they are still unable to select from a full squad through injuries and holiday commitments.

Alongside Clutton in the back-row will be Hawcutt and Kay both of whom stood out in last Saturday's heavy defeat at Darlington: the second row of Thornton and West remains unchanged from that which finished that match.

In the backs former Doncaster centre James Mell is hoping to make his first start after having to withdraw last week with a hamstring strain.

The only other change is Tom Copeland taking the place of Scott Boothroyd who injured a shoulder at Darlington.

Malton & Norton are due to entertain Ripon in a non-league fixture.

Ripon welcome back props Neil Whitaker and Peter Fletcher and No. 8 Pete Simms might be fit to play. He received a facial injury in the match at North Ribblesdale six weeks ago.

York RI's senior side take a rest this weekend, leaving their 'A' team to take on Driffield Extra 'A.

All available players will get a run-out for Nestl Rowntree against Northallerton's fourth string at Brompton if ground conditions improve in time.

Rowntree's side will be made up of those players who do not get a chance to play in their league games.

Selby do not have a game at first team level tomorrow although attempts were still being made last night to find games for lower order sides.

Pocklington are scheduled to travel to Elloughton to meet Hull Ionians Hawks.
