HAVING trumpeted loudly the literacy and numeracy hours in our schools, might I suggest the Government now needs to introduce history hours. Those attending should include Mr Blair and his 'patriotism envoy', Michael Wills.
What a golden opportunity the Government has had to promote its recently-proclaimed patriotism by celebrating the bi-centenary of our United Kingdom and of the Union Flag. What a focus for national celebration, the 200th anniversary of our nation. So what is this Labour Government actually doing? Nothing!
Just think if a French politician had ignored their country's bi-centenary in 1989, they may well have gone the same way as Marie Antoinette.
What a disgrace, Mr Blair, or is this a rare 'spin-free' insight into what he really believes, not in our nation but in continuing to give away our independence, treaty by treaty, finally leaving us as nothing more than an administrative province of an EU superstate.
