AN elderly woman was injured when she tried to tackle a burglar at her York home.
The man, who claimed to be from the water board, tricked his way into the woman's house in Allen Close yesterday afternoon.
After distracting her, he searched the property in search of cash and valuables but the woman, who is in her late 80s, found him and tried to grab hold of him.
She fell over and sustained minor injuries.
Another bogus caller got away with £200 after conning a resident of Lindsey Avenue, York, yesterday morning. The man said he needed water for his car, then asked for a cup of tea.
And at about 9.30pm yesterday, a woman returned to her home in Hambleton Terrace, York, to find a burglar in the house.
He threatened her with a screwdriver before running off.
