MORE than 2,500 applications have been sent out in the Outgoers portion of the Pig Industry Restructuring scheme since it opened on December 4. The other element of the scheme, Ongoers, is now open for applications. Both schemes offer assistance to the hard-hit industry, the first for those intending to get out of pig production, the second for those who wish to remain in the business but need help to restructure it.
