YORKIE the lion was sharpening his claws today ready to do battle in the mascots stakes with Sammy the Stag as his side, York City, took on Mansfield this afternoon.
The loveable mascot, who had a run in with Sammy at the Mascots Grand National last year, is ready to show fans of both clubs how talon-ted he really is.
Yorkie also had a buff on his visit to Nailbarone, Swinegate, York, as part of a Man-I-Roar, a service only available to lions.
"It is important that I am at my best and sharpest," Yorkie said through his giant furry head.
"I may be friendly, but I don't want to be thought of as cuticle."
The manicure parlour has recently undergone a refurbishment, offering extra seats for customers of all species.
A new manager, Heather Mitchell, is to take over next week and a second store is opening soon in Harrogate.
