THE foot and mouth outbreak has forced the cancellation of a concert by the York Minster Choir at Duncombe Park, near Helmsley.
The concert, featuring Ian Carmichael, was to take place at Duncombe Park on Friday to raise funds for the North Yorkshire Music Therapy Centre. Organisers are hoping to rearrange it once the crisis is over.
Meanwhile, youth hostels in the Yorkshire Dales have been forced to shut because of the crisis.
However, hostels elsewhere in North Yorkshire, including York and Helmsley, remain open. The Youth Hostels Association has closed more than 100 hostels across the country.
