A further foot and mouth case has been confirmed in North Yorkshire, bringing the total so far to 13 cases.
The Ministry of Agriculture said 401 sheep and 64 cattle would be slaughtered at Throstle Nest farm, Aysgarth.
Investigations are under way to identify the source and spread of the infection.
Meanwhile work has begun on siting a mobile incinerator on military land near Catterick, with excavation at Hipswell Moor, which is to the west of the Foxglove Covert adjacent to Meggido Lines and Cambrai Barracks.
The excavations will house mobile air curtain incinerators, to dispose only of non-infected livestock carcasses from premises adjacent to farms where an outbreak has occurred.
No infected remains will be brought to the site. The first disposals are expected to take place by this evening.
Sealed vehicles will bring carcasses along public roads through Catterick garrison, and the vehicles will be disinfected on arrival and return.
