Heworth survived losing four wickets with their score on 25 to gain a five wicket win over New Earswick in division three of Hunters Estate Agent York and District Senior League.

Jason Gatus took seven for 18 as New Earswick were dismissed for 109.

Andy Freeman, who had scored 33, then took three for 11, but Graham Hogben held firm and was unbeaten with 41 when Heworth won to stay top of the table.

League newcomers Hornsea are hot on Heworth's heels after their 77 run victory at Selby, whose Richard Laycock took four for 33 as Hornsea reached 163 for eight thanks to David Prescott (53) and Richard Webster (42).

Selby skipper Ian Lake made 44 in reply but Jonathan Fisher took six for six and Australian Michael Johnstone's four for 23 as Selby were all out for 86 in the 44th over.

Bolton Percy banked the full 30 points when they crushed Heslington by 135 runs. Nick Lister made 47 and Jamie Rigby 80 as they combined to score 103 for the first wicket. Alistair Rigby iced the cake with 40 to lift the Bolton total to 201 for four. Mick Firth took three for 74 off 23 overs.

Heslington were then mown down for 66, Richard Douthwaite taking three for 14.

The Johnson brothers called the tune at Malton as they took their team to a five wicket victory over Woodhouse Grange II.

Dave Langton made 45 and Lee Wild 31 for Grange, while Hudson's three for 30 helped to keep the Woodhouse score to 141 for seven.

Peter Nolton responded with three for 56 but Greg Johnson hit an unbeaten 62 and brother Neil 34 to keep their side well in touch with the divisional pacesetters.

Cawood got maximum batting points when they made 206 for six against Osbaldwick II, who mounted a rearguard action to come out with a draw at 144 for eight thanks mainly to Matt Dunne's 72 not out.

Osbaldwick's hopes were ruined when former Selby player Robert Wood grabbed a hat-trick as he took four for five in a decisive spell of bowling.
