Stillington'S overseas player Mohammed Hafeez made the highest score of the league season so far, but his side are still bottom of division one in the Hunters Estate Agent York and District Senior League.

He scored 157 in 136 balls out of his side's total of 235-9 against Dringhouses, whose Alistair Darnell took seven for 43 in 17 overs.

But then he saw his batting colleagues make an unenterprising 126 for four to draw the game.

The only Dringhouses batsman to feature was Tom Nicholls who followed his second team maiden century of the previous week with an unbeaten 52.

Beverley Town surrendered the divisional leadership when they earned only three points at Crayke, who won by seven wickets.

Beverley scored only 145 for nine as Mark Hutchinson claimed six for 71 and Andrew Dawson three for 38.

Dawson then continued to plague the East Riding side as he moved to an unbeaten 79, while Dave Thomas added 30 to help Crayke to victory.

Beverley's place at the top of the division has been taken by York, who beat Driffield by eight wickets.

Dave Williamson made 56 for Driffield out of 185 for seven as Brendan O'Donovan took four for 49. O'Donovan was then York's top scorer, with 64. Andrew Kay 60 and Ian Catlow 41 gave sound support.

Carlton Towers, who won division two last year and division three the previous year, are making a solid bid for a treble and are in third place in division one following their victory at Duncombe Park.

The Helmsley side were dismissed for 128 as Paul Wright claimed five for 42 and Kevin Waites three for 12. Will Mallory, who made 35, was the only Helmsley batsman to emerge with real credit.

Colin Humpleby hit back with four for 29, but Jamie Pocklington's 47 put his side in command before Waites' unbeaten 25 saw Carlton win by three wickets.

Rod Hinch maintained his good form by hitting 52 when Pocklington took first innings at Stamford Bridge.

Andy Inns added 39 and Sean Houtham 37 as Pocklington banked maximum batting points at 206 for six.

In reply, Graham Tipping made 64 not out and Jonathan Stevens 33, but Richard Foster's three for 40 helped to keep them in check and a final score of 130 for six saw the game drawn.

Sessay's batsmen prospered at Wilberfoss, where a visiting side took maximum batting points for the second successive week.

Matthew Till was top scorer with 89 while John Flintoff hit 63 and Nick Harrison 45 as Sessay made an impressive 249 for two.

The home side's top scorer was Matthew McIntosh with 51. Phil Stothard made 25 but Matthew Till took three for 37 and Wilberfoss content with a draw at 151 for eight.
