Details of the refurbishment of a popular York swimming pool are to be ratified this week.
Victorious campaigners launched a joyful celebration last year after the hard-hitting Evening Press campaign Save Our Swim saved the Edmund Wilson Swimming Pool, and now the financial plans are set to be given the nod by councillors.
Just over £1 million has been approved from the council's capital programme over two years to refurbish the pool. The total of the project has been estimated at £1,360,000.
At tomorrow's meeting between chief officer Charlie Croft and councillors at the Guildhall the phase one expenditures are expected to be ratified.
More than £350,000 is to be taken from the general maintenance of swimming pools budget, while £210,000 will be taken from the Edmund Wilson budget.
Work on the pool includes replacing pipework and valves, replacing the ventilation system, replacing emergency lighting, surveying a concrete chimney, repairing a concrete canopy, relocating the creche and providing toilets for disabled people.
The pool, along with the Barbican and Yearsley baths, was saved after a long campaign by the Evening Press.
About £7 million was provided to keep the pools open after a six-month fight to block closure proposals made by City of York Council. It also follows a £7,000 city-wide consultation.
