Atomic Kitten, that sleek and slinky trio of chart toppers demonstrated feline fission chips thanks to a York marketing company.

The girls gave a lunchtime performance for pupils at a Luton school as part of a schools promotion by Scarborough-based chip-producers McCain Foods, designed and orchestrated by Teamwork Marketing, part of the Teamwork Group at Dunnington, near York.

It was a surprise thrill for the pupils to see the songsters who have just enjoyed their first number one single, Whole Again.

Their appearance was the school's reward for winning top prize in a competition which was the first in a series of schools promotions designed by Teamwork for McCain Foods aimed at increasing the popularity of school meals.

More than 1,000 "lunchtime session kits" were distributed nationally to secondary schools, inviting pupils to design a CD cover.
