A York RUFC youngster has been named player of the year for Yorkshire Under-18s clubs.
Matthew Stockdale was awarded the honour at a presentation ceremony at Old Otliensians RUFC on Sunday, May 20.
The award is presented annually to players who have represented the county at under-18s club level and is decided by the committee, coaches and selectors.
In addition to representing Yorkshire, back-row forward Stockdale also played for the Northern Division before representing England on five occasions over the Easter period.
Alan Warriner of the York RI club also received a cut glass engraved goblet at the event.
He has been involved with youth rugby for over 30 years and the award was made to celebrate his retirement from the Yorkshire Under-18 Clubs Committee at the end of this season.
