A sex attacker who has been plaguing women in York may have struck again.

A woman was attacked and indecently assaulted as she walked alone along Station Road, near The Mount, in the early hours of yesterday.

It follows two attacks on women in the South Bank area, one earlier this month and a similar incident in February.

A police spokesman said: "The victim was walking home when she was approached by a man who grabbed her breasts. She shouted at him and he walked off.

"We are keeping an open mind on this attack and are mindful that it could be linked to others that have taken place in the city."

Earlier this month a 32-year-old woman managed to escape when a man threw her to the ground as she walked home from Toffs nightclub.

She spoke out in the Evening Press after the attack and said she feared her attacker would strike again and that next time it could be rape.

She was attacked at the junction of Philadelphia Terrace and Ovington Terrace, off Albemarle Road, in South Bank. A similar incident happened in the next street, Coggan Close, on February 20, when a woman was subjected to a serious sexual assault.

The attacker in the latest incident is described as a white male, aged around 30 and of slim build.

He was wearing glasses, is bald or has a skinhead haircut and was wearing a casual dark jacket and trousers.

The spokesman added: "We are appealing to anyone who has any information on the attacks to contact us.

"In the meantime we are advising women to take extra care, especially at night. Avoid walking alone and take a taxi from a firm you are familiar with if possible."

Anyone with any information on the attacks should ring 01904 631321.
