York and District Chess League defeated Humberside and District League 8-1 in their annual end of season match at York Railway Institute.
The match should have been contested over more boards, but Humberside were unable to raise more players.
York won the first seven games to finish and drew the last two. Winners for York were Paul Hopwood (board one), Richard Hardy (board three), Paul Johnson (board four), Norman A drews (board five), Owen Robson (board six), Steve Webster (board seven) and John Lafferty (board nine). Draws were achieved by Tim Turner (board two) and Mick Beavers (board eight).
