Academics will put the questions that matter to them to MPs at a hustings meeting at the University of York.
Selby's four main candidates - John Grogan, standing for Labour, Michael Mitchell for the Conservatives, Liberal Democrat Jeremy Wilcock and Green member Helen Kenwright - have agreed to attend the election debate.
The event, held on May 31, has been organised by the York branch of the Association of University Teachers and will be attended by staff and students.
Bob Lewis, of the UK Independence Party, is also standing for the Selby seat which includes the university.
