York City Baths Club swimmers reached 13 individual and eight team finals at the North Eastern Counties Sprint and Team Championships at Leeds International Pool.

York's ten-year-old girls team of Dani Horsman, Rachel East-hough, Hannah Petts and Lucy Recchia were in outstanding form, winning silver medals in both the freestyle and medley relays.

In the individual sprints, Lewis Porylo took silver in the 15 year boys 50m breaststroke, closely followed with bronze by team-mate Tom Southam. Both swimmers were inside the national age group qualifying time.

Southam also picked up bronze in the 50m freestyle.

Alice Sunderland was York's other medallist with a bronze in the 11 years 50m butterfly.

Twelve-year-olds Robert Kinnell and Andrew Fowler both reached the final of the 50m butterfly and achieved their national age group qualifying time.

The North Eastern Counties Senior/Junior meeting at Sheffield produced just one medal for YCBC.

Gawain Ng continued his fine progress by picking up a bronze medal in the Junior Boys 200m breaststroke.

There was more success for Tadcaster Swim Squad.

There was a gold medal for Amy Clayden in the 14 years 50m backstroke, to add to her county titles, and she also reached the final of the 50m butterfly and freestyle, finishing fifth and sixth respectively.

Peter Webster failed by the narrowest of margins to take the 15 years 50m backstroke title, having to be content with third place in an event where only 0.3 of a second covered the first six finalists. He also produced a personal best time for the 50 metres butterfly.

Adam Milner climbed 20 places to 14th in the rankings in the 13 years freestyle, failing by less than a second to achieve his National Age Group qualifying time.

In the same age group, Anna Horwell swam personal best times in breaststroke and butterfly, as did Chloe Carter in the 11 years backstroke and freestyle. There were also good swims from Hannah Weld and Tom Davies.

The squad's 13/14 years girls team produced a fine swim in the 4 x 50 medley relay.

The team of Amy Clayden, Anna Horwell, Felicity Prior and Claire Passmore impressed against the bigger clubs to finish just two seconds away from a place in the final.

The 15/16 years team of Luisa Horwell, Amy Costello, Natalie Saunders and Anna Martin overcame last minute changes and performed well against strong opposition in their two events.
