Cyclists were today taking to the streets of York to protest about the continuing damage being done to the environment by pollution.
Green group York LEAF (Local Environmental Action Forum) was one of those behind the protest, which was starting this evening at Tower Gardens and involving cyclists taking part in a go-slow through the city.
It was aimed at raising awareness of the impact of global warming and the part played by vehicle exhaust fumes in the pollution of the environment. York LEAF has organised similar protests in the city in the past to let shoppers know its view that the car has no future, though there has not been anything similar for more than a year.
Other environmental groups involved in today's protest ride included Critical Mass and Rising Tide.
