I CANNOT let Ms Berry go unchallenged in her support for Coppergate II (Letters, May 17). Coppergate II objectors are not objecting to redevelopment and increased retail space along the Foss. We are against over-development next to Clifford's Tower and the loss of a potentially valuable public amenity in the form of a park.

There are plenty of neglected and run-down locations in the city requiring redevelopment without having to build around Clifford's Tower.

A hitherto neglected drawback of any development of the Castle car park is the removal of practically the only car park in the city that does not have any height restrictions.

So much for people with tall vans, or Land Rovers with roof racks.

Indeed, if I were so inclined, I could not visit MFI in my Land Rover when their height barrier is across.

Albemarle Road,
