I WAS interested to see the photograph and notes about Archbishop Holgate's School year books (May 18).
I attended what was then Archbishop Holgate's Grammar School, first in Lord Mayor's Walk and latterly in Hull Road from 1962 to 1969 - no girls in those days. There was a formal school gazette called the Mitre. It had much detail on staff and pupils including a section with Latin titles which I think was salvete 'hello'and valete 'goodbye'.
Each heading gave pen-portraits of the comings and goings of normal school life including exams passed and employers' details. Progress on to university was only for the very best 30 years ago.
The year book idea is an excellent one and should provide many happy memories in the future for Rebecca, Kat and their classmates.
