York Acorn Ladies rugby league team lost 24-6 at Warrington-based side Woolston.
Although they were competitive Acorn lacked their usual cutting edge in attack and never really looked like winning.
Prop forward Yvette Shepherd had her best game of the season, making several storming runs and some big hits in defence.
Full-back Chantel Markham won the referee's player of the match award.
The try scorer for Acorn was Bev Langan. Liza Miller added the conversion.
