THIRTY-TWO police officers from North Yorkshire were called in to help deal with the riots in Bradford at the weekend.

Specially-trained officers from York, Harrogate, Scarborough and other parts of the county were drafted in to help.

On Saturday, an inspector, three sergeants and 18 officers were involved. Further support was provided yesterday by an inspector, sergeant and six officers.

It is not thought that any North Yorkshire officers were injured in the disturbances.

A spokesman for West Yorkshire Police said it had called on seven other forces for help, but would not be releasing specific figures.
