Clifton Alliance's batsmen went on a run rampage in the quarter-finals of the Hunters Estate Agent York and District Senior League Cup at Acomb as they rattled up a total of 302 for 6 in their 40 overs as a prelude to a 112-run victory.

Darren Reeves (65) and Dave Taylor (71) gave the current league leaders just the start they needed when they put on 135 for the first wicket. Simon Dwyer then made 57 and skipper Duncan Naylor 26 as Clifton posted the highest total of the season.

Acomb's overseas star, Duminda Perera, then continued his flood of runs which had seen him make an unbeaten 86 in Friday's Sawkill Cup Final and a record 170 in Saturday's league game when he scored 51. Chris Simpson made 40 and Dave Sykes an unbeaten 34 but Dwyer took 3 for 34 in his eight overs and Acomb were dismissed for 190.

Thirsk made a useful first innings score of 216 for 6 when they batted first against Pickering with runs coming from Dave Greenlay 47, Mike Gear 47 and Lincoln McRae 44. When Pickering replied, Brian Leckenby made 32 and Colin Frank 37 before Craig Aconley and Chris Hugill co-operated in a decisive fifth wicket stand of 134.

Hugill eventually fell for 48 but Aconley, batting at number four went on to make an unbeaten 85 as Pickering won by five wickets with ten balls to spare.

Woodhouse Grange batsman Nick Hadfield hit his second unbeaten century in two days when he added 115 not out to his Saturday's unbeaten 114 as the York bowlers toiled at Sutton-on-Derwent. Hadfield was assisted by Stuart Craven who made 55 in a second wicket stand of 106 which helped Woodhouse to 231-3. York's best bowler was Richard Carroll who took 3 for 37.

York, the only remaining non-premier division side left in the competition then mounted a spirited reply as Dave Catlow hit 53 and Brendan O'Donovan 60 but were unable to match their opponents and were beaten by 35 runs when they closed at 196-9.

Holders Dunnington cruised to a nine wicket victory at Osbaldwick The result of the game between Osbaldwick and holders Dunnington has not been received.

Stuart Boyle top scored with 45 in Osbaldwick's 179 for 9, but Dunnington skipper Simon Kellett (54) and Hamed Khan (79no) effectively settled the contest with an opening partnership of 103.

Former West Indian Test star Collis King followed his 3 for 36 with an unbeaten 33 to take Dunnington home.

Osbaldwick 179-9 (S Boyle 45, M Thompson 39, D Cooper 37; C King 3-36) lost to Dunnington 182-1 (S Kellett 54, Hamed Khan 79no, C King 33no) by 9 wickets.
