TIM Henman is a gallant loser in the Wimbledon semi-final. The British Lions forsake a half-time lead to crash to their greatest ever defeat by Australia. England collapse to an innings defeat in the first Ashes Test. It is the very predictability of this trio of results that is so depressing.
We have another four matches in the Ashes to go, plus the Lions decider. It could be a long summer. At least we can look forward to good British performances during this December's UK Snooker Championship - staged, of course, at the Barbican Centre.
