DEADLY accuracy was displayed by Dawn Exton to enable Cygnet to soar to a fine triumph over Ox in the John Smith's Ladies League first divsion.

She closed on 134 using treble 20, treble 14 then double 16 to give Cygnet a 4-2 advantage en route to an eventual 6-3 triumph.

Layerthorpe too held a 4-2 lead then added the pairs against Slipper, whose points were supplied by Ann Manning and Doreen Johnstone.

Sue Claydon checked bull for Vaults but excellent scoring from Angie Hields (100,100,140) and Tracey Farmeary (120,121,140) steered the leaders, City Arms, to victory while Sarah Jackson included a 174 score as Punch beat Cranes.

Michelle Britton shone for Bay Horse, but Ruth Norman and Liz Richford replied for Clifton before Horse galloped to a 4-2 lead. Richford and Pat Nelson levelled at 4-4 but Janine Ratcliffe (100,135) and Amanda Britton won Bay the decider.

Roz Kerr hit the tons as Brigadier took a 4-2 lead into the pairs. Dringhouses' captain Mags Bell and Lynne Dacre levelled the match, but Carole Layne and Freda Metcalfe sealed the 5-4 win.

Division two leaders Slip had Pat Cairns (135) opening well before Val Pinder and Margaret Davis put Burton WMC on the scoresheet. It was, however, to be their only points as Slip polished off the remainder.

Half Moon went 3-0 up against Jubilee who hit back, Angie Lancaster levelling. Clair Knaggs and Paula Birkitt edged Moon in front. Captain Maureen Ferguson, together with Claire Pearson, added the match winner.

Severus were pushed by Poacher, whose Yvonne Watson hit two tons to make it three apiece.

Val Long and Linda Davies edged the club in front, but Watson with Carol Sturdy set up the decider which Deanna Joy and Sue Richardson secured for Severus.

Britannia 'A' won the first five, Chris Swales sealing the win against Leeman. Britannia 'B' also led 5-0 against Cygnet, whose Liz Powell played well then combined with Chris Waddington to register their only other point.

Division three leaders Clifton, despite a player short, won 5-4 at Shepherd. Linda Embleton (100,140) played a captain's role assisted by Julie Maycock, while Sandra Pallister and Jean Wright settled the win.

Pat Rainton scored high for Holgate WMC but Frog had the match sewn up before the pairs with captain Sue Tate in fine form.

Andy Mercer threw a tremendous 17 dart game in York John Smith's Mixed League, but his Victoria Vaults side went down 6-3 to Slipper 'A'.

Cygnet 'A' won 6-3. Dave Gibbons gamed in 19 darts and Kevin Walton included 180 to record 21. For Leeman 'A' Neil Hart made a good 21-dart reply.

Pete Leake shot 21 for Huntington 'B' against Three Tuns, whose only win was registered by Doreen Knights.

Cygnet 'B' had Dave Smith making an exit on bullseye before pairing with Chris Waddington to secure the decider at Leeman 'B'.

Crescent forfeited top place in York White Rose Ladies League division one when failure to quell Carole Coundon and Cynthia Senior meant a fine 4-3 win for Magnet.

Sun are now the leaders but only just. Heather Beadnell competently took the decider at Bowling Club.

Lord Collingwood had 24 darts from Donna Dwyer in a 6-1 scoreline against Nags Head and now lead division two by three points.

Huntington took the last three with Janice Turton, Sue Smith and Margaret Clapham to edge Bumper, while on the trot wins by Julie Laing, Carole Fearn then Vikki Le Monnier snatched a 4-3 result for Tankard at Bay Horse.

Moira Atkinson was charged with securing the decider for Fulford Conservatives against Alice Hawthorn.
