Dunnington seconds have taken the lead in division three of the IT Sports York Mixed Tennis League after their wins against Civil Service and Bishopthorpe.

Dunnington won 62-46 at Service with Kevin Todd and Judy McHenry top scorers and then entertained depleted Bishopthorpe, whom they beat.

Appleton Roebuck secured their second win at Riccall 64-44 but find themselves in last place on games difference. Appleton's Matt Kilgallon and Judy Marriott won all three rubbers 9-3.

York have gone back to the top of division one after defeating their second team and Wigginton.

They are just two points ahead of rivals Poppleton with a games difference of only four.

Dunnington have won their last two matches against Stillington.

Trevor Loten and Joyce Rhodes teamed up to be Dunnington's top scorers in both matches although Stillington were unlucky to concede games in their home match due to injury.

Sherburn have moved into the second promotion place in division two after winning their last two matches against leaders Fulford 61-47 and then Sherburn 62-46.

David Parrish and Angie Screeton were Sherburn's best pair against Castlegarth and Jonathon Sharp and Karen Espiner topped the averages at Fulford despite the best efforts of Fulford's Dave Bradley and Di Ekers, who were unbeaten.

Fulford suffered a further setback when they lost to Poppleton 57-51. Just five points cover the top five teams.

No changes in division four with Bubwith way out front after they beat Strensall 65-43.

York remain second after winning 60-48 at Cawood, led by Howard Pallister and Karen Retief with 26 games. But they then lost 63-45 against Wigginton 63-45 with Ken Storey and Julie Noonan winning 24 games for the victors.

Wheldrake have almost secured the division five title after their heavy 92-16 defeat of Appleton Roebuck with all their couples having won 30 games or more.

Copmanthorpe have taken over second place with their 65-43 win at Fulford, for whom Paul Copley and Trish Telfor top scored with 25 games.

Wistow have taken over at the top of division six after their 74-34 win against Bishopthorpe with Stephen and Janet Falkingham leading the scoring.

Bishopthorpe then fought back and dented Poppleton's promotion hopes with a 59-49 win in a match of contrasting fortunes led by Alan Yoward and Andrene Watson.

Poppleton went third after they beat visitors Dunnington 63-45 to leave Dunnington at the foot of the table.

Sheriff Hutton won their first match of the season against previous leaders Wigginton 57-51. But Wigginton returned to winning ways with a win at Rufforth led by Richard Smith and Charlene Woodward.

Tadcaster dented Strensall's division seven promotion run with a 56-52 win thanks to top scorers Craig Derry and Deb Rutherford winning their first rubber 10-2.

Tollerton stayed in touch for promotion, winning 59-49 against Wistow to leave Wistow in one of the automatic relegation places despite winning against Rufforth 58-50 in a fluctuating match. Wistow's top scorers, Alan Hearn and Sue Hudson, won 23.

Sutton on Derwent stay in top spot in division eight after their win against Appleton Roebuck.

Riccall traded places with the team they played after they won at Strensall 56-52 despite the best attempts of Strensall's unbeaten Owen Berber and Kath Biswell.

Bubwith extended their lead at the top of division nine after their latest win against New Earswick.

Wilberfoss are still second after they beat Selby 56-52, while Wigginton eased into third place with two wins against Escrick and Tollerton.

David Wilson and Hilary Bogue were Wigginton's top performers at Tollerton and Dave Booth and Pauline Wregglesworth heading the averages against Escrick.

Wheldrake have now taken a clear lead in division ten after their wins against Strensall 69-40, for whom Peter Smye and Diane Jarvis were unbeatable, and then against closest rivals Fulford 61-47.
