The match record at the Oaks was shattered in the Thursday evening match last week - and very nearly went again on Sunday.

The new holder is Paul Taylor (MAP Elton), who fished pellet and paste down the track at peg 34 on Maple Lake. His 74lb 13oz consisted of carp to 6lb.

Runner-up in the 37 entry was Mark Calvert (Cleveland Angling Centre) who had 70lb15oz from peg 62.

Others: Tony Kozaczek (GTI Wakefield) 60-2-0, Ian Exley (Middy Teams Dons) 54-10-0, Dave Wright (Harrogate AS) 50-0-0

On Sunday it was the turn of 16-year-old Stuart Adams from Thirsk. The sell-out field prompted the use of a new peg 62a in the corner of the lake, boosting the attendance to 64. Pole-fishing corn into the corner the youngster found his virgin peg solid with carp and, but for a few misfortunes, would have re-written history for the second time in a week.

His carp haul worth £100 totalled 74lb 4oz, just ounces short. The rest of the field caught on a variety of baits and methods for a change with Paul Taylor (MAP Elton) taking second from peg 62 on paste with 47lb.

Mick Herrington (Headingley Angling) had 44lb 8oz on meat while Steve Raper (Headingley Angling) had his 40lb 4oz on floating bread.

Others: Andy Stoner (GTI Wakefield) 36-2-0, Rab Ogilvy (The Oaks) 35-8-0.

The Ouse at Aldwark proved tough going for Leeds' 33 peg Greenwood Cup.

Nigel Rance (Darlington Angling Centre) scored an easy win from a peg above the Golf Club as he was the only angler armed with lob worms.

Legering his prized offering mid-river he picked up 19 eels for his 13lb 1oz. Ian Walker (Lower Wharfe Angler) took second with 6lb 3oz of perch and eels taken on stick and maggot.

Others: Jim Jordan (Armley Angling) 6-2-0, Tony Hewson (Armley Angling) 4-9-0.

Saturday's 35-strong entry enjoyed another belter at the Willows with most of the field pegged on Gold Rush netting 20lb or more.

Marjorie Harrison (JT Rogers) scored a well earned win from peg 32 on the peninsula. Fishing casters and pellets up in the water, she was kept busy compiling her 33lb 4oz of small carp and ide. Keith Mitchell (Selby) took a similar net on pole and maggot from peg 57 for his 32lb 8oz.

Others: Mick Lodge (Dick Clegg Ossett) 32-4-0, Tony Hewson (Armley Angling) and John Haw (Acomb Tackle) both 29-8-0, Steve Cromie (Bob.Co) and Dave Ward (Dick Clegg Ossett) both 27-4-0.

Saturday's 70 pegger at Woodlands was fished on Skylark and Partridge where Ian Thompson (Barnsley) got the edge from peg 16 on the more productive Partridge.

Fishing paste over pellets at peg 16 he switched lines between five and three metres for carp to 6lb in his 47lb 6oz.

Shaun Rogers (Robin Hood) scored his second runner-up place in a week but would have probably done better were it not for a broken pole section that cost him vital time as he began bagging. Fishing pellet and paste at five metres he had carp to 4lb in his 40lb 6oz.

Others: Mick Phillips (MAP Elton) 39-14-0, Ian Brayshaw (JT Rogers) 32-14-0, Steve Fearnley (Normark) 32-6-0, Dave Ward (Team Ward) 32-5-0.

The Wednesday open drew 57 and went to Steve Fearnley (Normark), who used the pellet and paste combination at three metres for an all carp 59lb 1oz from Partridge eight. At the next peg Shaun Rogers (Robin Hood) used the same tactics for 53lb 8oz of carp.

Others: Dave Gill (MAP Elton) 51-11-0, Steve Woods (Leeds) 51-0-0, Mick Cawkwell (Elton Tackle) 48-15-0.

The Nidd at Cowthorpe disappointed for the 70 peg Bradford No1 match.

With the river running clear and pleasure anglers lining the banks, every day the chub shut up shop. Barbel made up most of the low weights with Bob Newby (Bradford No1) scoring from peg 30 above the car park. Fishing stick and maggot he netted three barbel and a solitary chub for 16lb 13oz.

Adrian Lewis (Bradford No1) legered grub in the shallows at peg 20 where he bagged a brace of better barbel for his 11lb 3oz.

Others: Stuart Westerman (Leeds) 10-10-0, Pete Vickerman (Bradford No1) 7-13-0, Graeme Pierson (York) 7-0-0, Alan Sugden (Bradford No1) 6-3-0.
