York City Baths Club won three gold, two silver and six bronze medals at the Sports Aid Foundation Sprints Meeting at the Leeds International Pool.

Top York performer was ten-year-old Chris Burns, who won the 50metres breastroke, was second in the 50m freestyle and third in the 50m butterfly.

Jenny Hoggard, 16, won gold in the 50m butterfly and silver in the 50m breastroke.

The third winner was Alex Outhwaite, 14, in the 50m backstroke.

Bronze medals were collected by Anna Silbeck (14yrs, 50m freestyle), Gawin Ng (15yrs, 50m breastroke), Luke Hutchinson (11yrs, 50m backstroke), Kate Hollier (12yrs, 50m butterfly) and Nick Boaz (13yrs, 50m breastroke).

Other York finalists (all 50m) were Chris Briggs (15yrs, backstroke, breastroke and freestyle), Alex Outhwaite (14 yrs, butterfly), Adam Darby (15yrs, backstroke and breastroke), Gawain Ng (15yrs butterfly, backstroke and freestyle), Jenny Hoggard (16yrs, backstroke and freestyle), Sophie Calpin (10yrs, breastroke, butterfly and freestyle), Luke Hutchinson (11yrs, breastroke), Joanna Feasby (freestyle), Hannah Petts (backstroke and freestyle), Kate Hollier (12yrs freestyle), Andy Fowler (butterfly and breastroke), Sarah Walker (13yrs, breastroke) and Hayley Moffatt (13yrs, breastroke).

Personal best times were posted by Daniella Walker, Dani Horsman, Michelle Moffatt, Lucy Recchia, Ben Long, Chris Holmes, Emma Davies, Elizabeth Jayne young, Nicky Lampard and Grace Ng.

Nine New Earwick Swimming Club competitors achieved ten final places and three reserve final places at the meeting.

Nicola Howlett, 14, was second in the 50m butterfly, fifth in the breastroke, sixth in the backstroke and a reserve finalist in the freestyle.

Heather Welsh was fourth in the 14yrs breastroke and Lucy Gould eighth in the backstroke final and a reserve finalist from the freestyle heats.

Andrew Clapham, 12, collected bronze in the breastroke and finished seventh and eighth respectively in the freestyle and backstroke finals.

James Richards touched home second in the 13 yrs backstroke and in sixth in the freestyle final.

Jason Milner swam into a reserve finalist place in the 15/16yrs backstroke heats and also set four personal best times.

Long course pbs were also achieved by 10-year-olds Jenna Howlett and Jennifer Welsh and Stephanie Gould, 11.
