MANOR School have extended their great York Schools' cricket record.

They won three of the four age group finals at Acomb CC's ground.

The pick of the matches was the under-14 League final game in which Manor beat All Saints by two runs in a game that went right down to the wire.

Manor's under-15s crushed Sherburn by eight wickets and maintained their unbeaten in record York and district cricket throughout secondary school.

The team is more or less the same as when it started at under-12 level and have been champions every year.

The under-15s ensured a hat-trick of Manor titles with a 99 run win over Sherburn.

Millthorpe won the remaining final, beating Archbishop's at under 12 level by eight wickets.

Details of all four finals are:

Under-12 cup final: Millthorpe 56-2 (D Potter 27no) beat Archbishop's (55) by 8 wkts.

Under-14 cup final: Manor 131 for 2 (Stephen Sacks 27no, Josh Binns 27no, Arran Reid 21no) beat Sherburn 32 (Denton 3-3, Haskins 3-3, Patrick 2-3) by 99 runs.

Under-13 league final: Manor 105-8 (Coulson 26no, Renton 25no) beat All Saints 103-8 (Houston 27no, Ledgeway 14, Gavin 14; Bean 2-4, Renton 2-13) by 2 runs.

Under-15 league final: Manor 42 for 2 (Sacks 13no, Allman 11) beat Sherburn 41 (Botterill 4-12, Theaker 4-7) by 8 wickets.

FOOTBALL

Results of all schools' football games, including all semi-finals and finals, should reach press secretary, Peter Wilmott, 217 Beckfield Lane, Acomb, York Y026 5PH (tel 01904 791416) as soon as possible after a game has been played. Both teams should communicate the result.

An accident report form, obtainable from the secretary, must be filled in and returned to him in the event of an accident in any inter-school game.

Where scores are level at the end of knock-out finals extra time will be played with the winner being the team which scores first.

Extra time for all secondary knock-out games is ten minutes each way.

In all league and friendly games teams may operate 'rolling' substitutes.

The results of knock-out games must reach the local press secretary by 9pm on the day of the deadline. The secretary may decide to exclude schools not adhering to the deadline.

Ties reaching the second replay stage may take place after the deadline.

Under-12 League

The under-12 League should be split into two regional divisions as 13 schools have entered.

North East - Archbishop's, Burnholme, Canon Lee, Fulford, Joseph Rowntree and Huntington.

South West - All Saints, Barlby, Lowfield, Manor, Millthorpe. Oaklands and Tadcaster.

All 13 league matches are to be completed by Saturday, March 9. The top two teams in each division will play off in a semi-final followed by a final to decide the winners. The College of Ripon and York St John are to provide a trophy.

Under-16 League

The under-16 League will be split into two regional divisions - North East: Archbishop's, Burnholme, Canon Lee, Fulford, J Rowntree, Huntington.

South West: All Saints, Barlby, Manor, Millthorpe, Oaklands, Sherburn and Tadcaster.

Under-16 semi-finals will be: NE winner v South West runner-up; SW winner v North East runner-up.

These semi-final matches are to be played in the week beginning March 11. Results are to be sent in to Peter Wilmott as soon as the matches are completed.

RUGBY UNION

North Yorkshire Schools' Rugby Union AGM will be held at Thirsk School on February 5 (5pm).

Under-18s

Horner State Schools are to nominate players to Mike Knight (Doncaster HC) before Friday, September 7.

Horner Independent Schools should nominate to Yorkshire Schools' 18 group secretary, Ian Gould at Ashville College by September 28.

Boys at either Horner or non-Horner Schools, whose 18th birthday falls before January 1, 2002 must follow either of the above schools' routes as they are too old for the clubs' route which have a January 1 cut-off.

Under-16s

(A) York/Selby schools v Scarborough/Ryedale/Cleveland - date and venue to be arranged. M Johnson to arrange.

(B)Claro/Craven/Hambleton/Richmond - Tuesday, September 18, 4.30pm at Ashville College.

(C) Team from (A) to play team from (B) at St Peter's School, York on Tuesday, September 25 at 2.30pm.

(D) Players from (C) nominated to Yorkshire Schools' 16 group committee to be seen in one of the semi-finals, on either October 9 at QEGS Wakefield, or on October 11 at Woodhouse Grove.

(E) Please note any players who played for the under-15 Schools or clubs last season, have automatic entry into the semi-final trials.
